TOURNAMENT DETAILS

WSDC Format

  • 3-5 speakers/team, 8 minute speeches, 4 minute replies, at most 3 speaking members per round

  • 1 motion per round (no vetoes)

  • 1 prepared round (Round 1), all other rounds are impromptu

  • 30 minutes prep time for impromptu motions, 15 minutes prep time for prepared motions

2 Finals Series

  • National WSDC teams are eligible to break into the national teams finals series track

  • All teams are eligible to break into the high school open finals series track

  • National teams that qualify for both will by default break into the national teams track unless requested otherwise.

**Pre-university students that haven’t enrolled in a university are considered high-school speakers, they need to ensure they’re not 21 years old.

Why Join?

Open Tournament

You do not need to form a team with a partner from the same institution. This means you can partner up with anyone in the world! As long as they are still in school and haven’t enrolled in a university or are under the age requirements for high-school, you are good to go!

International Judges

We’ve roped in some of the world’s best adjudicators to share their carefully kept secrets, techniques, and knowledge to propel your debate game to the next level! To ensure maximum quality, we’ve also selected an adjudication core that will be delivering challenging, yet exciting new motions!

Global Tournament

You'll be going up against like-minded debaters from every corner of the globe! Even if you don’t walk away with the grand prize, forging friendships with people from different countries is probably the next best thing. As we’re using Zoom throughout this tournament, you will have the option to communicate with people via audio and video too!
