Core Adjudication Panel
Novice Eligibility
In light of the increasing access to regional debate majors in this age of online debating, we feel that participation in a major is no longer a significant privilege that participation alone should disqualify speakers from being a Novice. As such, we are revising the novice criteria for this tournament, and other events organized under WoLCE.
You are a novice if you meet all of the following criteria:
Have not broken (in any category) as a speaker at a debating major (Australs, UADC, ABP, WUDC, EUDC etc) including WSDC.
Have not broken in the open category of more than 5 competitive open/varsity tournaments in any format (defined as having 10 or more rooms). This does not include novice or schools breaks, or breaks at schools level tournaments.
We expect speakers to declare their novice statuses on good faith, and if there are ambiguous situations to err on the side of caution by declaring it to the organizing committee. Speakers that are found to have violated the novice criteria will have their break eligibility revoked immediately with no refunds given.
Appeal Process
If you feel that there are extenuating circumstances where you should still qualify as a Novice, please do not hesitate to drop us an e-mail at therealwolce@gmail.com.

Scholarship Application
There are three different type of scholarship applications that are typically approved for WoLCE events that meet our social objectives. Each WoLCE event is mandated to have scholarships granted - the total number of scholarships granted are set at 20% of the tournament’s revenue collection and any additional donations that are provided to fund individuals for the event. The selection process is done by the scholarship committee of WoLCE and approved 7 days prior to a given event.
You may apply for a scholarship application for the following categories:
i) Financial Aid Scholarship
This scholarship is granted to individual(s) that cannot afford the registration fee based on their household income, purchasing power parity, or financial circumstances.
ii) Newcomer Scholarship
This scholarship is granted to individual(s) that haven’t attended competitive speaking tournaments prior to the event, or are relatively new and looking for means to develop their budding talents.
iii) Merit Scholarship
This scholarship is granted to individual(s) that have succeeded at many competitions by either ranking highly, or winning them and is meant to be granted to competent individual(s) that are experienced and their presence can help other individuals develop their talents as well.
